JOINING THE WORLD IN COMMEMORATING
INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE WORLD’S INDIGENOUS PEOPLES
August 9
Today, GERACON Peace and Human Rights Foundation joins the global community in commemorating the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, a day dedicated to recognizing the dignity, rights, cultures, identities, knowledge, traditions, and contributions of Indigenous Peoples around the world.
Indigenous communities carry generations of knowledge, cultural traditions, languages, values, and relationships with their land and environment. Their cultures are an important part of humanity’s shared heritage and deserve respect, protection, and preservation.
Yet many Indigenous Peoples continue to face discrimination, marginalization, displacement, threats to cultural identity, and barriers to the full enjoyment of their fundamental human rights.
At GERACON Peace and Human Rights Foundation, we believe that peace cannot be sustained where dignity is denied, and development cannot be truly inclusive when communities are excluded from decisions that affect their lives, cultures, and future.
We therefore reaffirm our commitment to promoting equality, inclusion, cultural dignity, peaceful coexistence, and the protection of human rights for all communities, including Indigenous Peoples.
Let us listen to Indigenous voices, respect their knowledge and traditions, protect their rights, and create spaces where cultural diversity is celebrated rather than suppressed.
OUR CALL TO ACTION

REFLECTION
“A people’s culture is not a relic of the past; it is a living expression of identity, dignity, memory, and belonging. When we protect cultural diversity, we strengthen the shared humanity that connects us all.”»
